The TVW, originally the Murfreesboro Community Concert Band, was organized in 1984 for area musicians
who had played in high school and college bands but who were now without a performance outlet. Joseph T.
Smith, founding director and conductor from 1984-2000, lead the group through many notable performances
including the Midwest Clinic International Band Conference, The Tennessee Music Educators Association
Convention, the Schermerhorn Symphony Hall and was even a featured performance group in London, England.
From 2000 - 2010, the TVW was directed by Terry Jolley and continued to grow and enjoy the respect, great reputation
and quality of music that was originally established by it's founder.
Beginning in 2011, the TVW, directed by Erich Zimmerman, enjoys a most enviable reputation. The group performs several
concerts in Murfreesboro each year and travels to other communities in Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky.
